Ella Roberta Campos, (nee' McFadden), 83, of
Pleasantville, New Jersey departed this life to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 24, 2023, while at the Excel Care in Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey after a lengthy illness.
She was born on July 5, 1939, in Liberty Hill, Kershaw County, South Carolina to Ellen (nee' Sanders) and Robert W. McFadden. Ella attended school in North Carolina and graduated from West Southern Pines High School in Moore County, North Carolina. She graduated from high school with High Honors and was voted as the most beautiful in her class.
At the age of 19, Ella relocated to
Atlantic City, New Jersey and found employment in several different hotels and restaurants. Prior to her retirement, she was last employed by Harrah's Hotel and Casino.
Ella was a true and devoted believer in the Lord. As a child, she was given a blue Bible. For the rest of her life, she was known to carry that old blue worn Bible as her sword and shield. She would use it to quickly find just the right psalm or scripture to read or to pray with you in your times of sorrow or happiness.
She had a true passion for life with her girlish personality which we all loved and enjoyed.
Her true joy in life was being a wonderful mother. She raised five children, nieces and nine grandchildren.
Ella also enjoyed shopping on QVC, traveling, gardening and being an awesome seamstress. She began to teach herself to sew when she was only four years old. Over the years she perfected her sewing skills and then went on to make countless wedding and formal gowns, dresses, and many other outfits for her family and friends. She had many different sewing machines that were always humming as she fashioned bolts of fabric into flawless creations.
Her creative talents were not limited to sewing. Ella also knew her way around the kitchen. She was an excellent cook and baker. Her family will attest that her Ho-Cake Bread was more than yummy.
Her family and friends will miss her dearly. They know that their lives will not be the same without her. But they are incredibly grateful to have had so many years with her. To know Ella was to love her.
