Ella Florence Boudreaux Fusilier was born on February 5, 1934, in Kaplan Louisiana. She was the fifth born of ten wonderful children from the union of Albert and Mary Landry Boudreaux, Sr. She lived her life with grace, kindness, and a heart full of love for the Lord.
She married Alexander Joseph Fusilier on January 28, 1950, and through their marriage of 50 years brought forth five children Lionell, Deborah, Michael, Eric and Tamara. Seeking a better life, they departed to Houston for career opportunities. Her caring nature led her to working at a nursing home then Nabisco where she retired after 25 years.
A devout woman, Ella found her strength in scripture and prayer from the teachings at St. Francis Xavier then St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church. She was a lifetime servant to her church community cooking and baking for bazaars and teaching catechism. Mind your calls by 8:30pm because she was serious about viewing the rosary and prayer reading on Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN). Her faith carried her through life's trials, and she never hesitated to remind those around her of God's everlasting love.
An avid gardener known for her pepper sauce and peach preserves. Gumbo, roast, dirty rice, and banana bread were just a few of her best dishes. Boy did she love to shop, she would haul in the best deals and discreetly fill her car trunk then closet. Whether it was through preparing home-cooked meals, offering wisdom and encouragement, or gathering everyone for Sunday dinners, Ella's love was felt in every hug, every prayer, and every shared moment.
She was welcomed home by our heavenly Father on February 26, 2025. She is preceded in death by Alexander (husband) and Michael Fusilier (Son), Mary Boudreaux (Mother), Albert Boudreaux Sr. (Father), her sisters Mary May Timberlake, Evelyn Despania, Velma King, Alma Greene, and Grace Rigsby.
Ella leaves to cherish her legacy: children Lionell (Linda), Deborah, Eric (Soledad), Tamara (Steven), daughter-in-law Virginia; 17 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. She also leaves behind her siblings; Stella Grogan, June Celestine (Earl), and Albert (T-Al) Boudreaux Jr. and host of nieces, nephews, godchildren, relatives and friends. Ella's legacy is one of faith, family, and love-a legacy that will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
