Ella Nora Lang

Our Beloved Mother, GrandMother, and Great Grandmother passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 24, 2025, at a local hospital in Mobile, Al. She was born in Mobile, Al, on September 4, 1948, to the late Danie and Ethel Mae Southall. She was a longtime member of House Of Prayer Apostolic Church, Prichard, Al, where she was a faithful and devoted Christian.
She was predeceased by her parents, sister Ethel Joyce Amerson, former husband and children's father Lee Lang, longtime companion Eddie Boykin, and devoted son-in-law Walter Hickenbottom, Sr.
Ella Nora Southall Lang attended Mattie T. Blount High School. As a teenager, she loved to sing, dance, and travel to Mississippi to visit family. As a young mother, she dedicated her life to creating a warm and nurturing home for her children and family. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her children and fostering a loving environment. Her cooking was legendary to all, and her meal gatherings were eagerly anticipated by family and friends alike. Her love for cooking began in her mother's kitchen and blossomed into a successful career as a cook and chef.
She was fondly known as the neighborhood "candy lady". Selling meals, candy, and drinks from her home.
She was an entrepreneur in her own right and passed that legacy on to her children and grandchildren.
She was all things to us..loving, kind, patient, gentle, encouraging, tough, flexible, soft, disciplined, supportive.
She wasn't perfect but, she was the perfect mother for us.
She leaves to cherish her memories four children: LeeNora Hickenbottom, Leon (Louanne) Lang, Gilmore (Majesta) Lang, and Ella Mae Mile all of Mobile, AL; grandchildren Lenora Striveson, Willie Martin Jr., Walter (Juanita) Hickenbottom Jr., Montrez Lang, Ji Lang, Jake Lang, Jalexis Johnson, LaPortia Lang, Lauren-Marie Lang, Queatarius Caldwell, Alisha Hammond, Jamal Ransom Sr., and Jeremy Mile; great grandchildren Emerson Striveson Jr., Emily Striveson, Rahiem Martin, Heaven-Lee Martin, Jaylen Hickenbottom, Wynter Hickenbottom, Waylahn Hickenbottom, Wa'laniah Hickenbottom, Curtarius Edwards, Kariye' Todd, Hamilton Caldwell, Queatarius Caldwell Jr., Jamal Ramsom Jr., Kalani Ransom; great great grandchild Karson Campbell; devoted niece Valerie Lacey; a devoted sister-in-law Lorraine Johnson; and a host of other family and friends
