Ella Mae Marshall
January 26, 1938 - January 5, 2026
Ella Mae Marshall, 87, passed away on January 5, 2026, leaving behind a life richly woven with love, dedication, and creativity.
Ella was passionate about many crafting hobbies, including quilting, knitting, and sewing. She especially loved creating her own intricately designed doilies and had mastered crocheting, a treasured skill lovingly taught to her by her grandmother, "Woodie." A keen problem-solver, Ella found great joy in working puzzles and embraced challenges with patience and determination.
She worked in retail for many years, retiring as a department manager. Beyond her professional life, Ella devoted herself wholeheartedly to caring for her family and managing the household with unwavering love and commitment. She was always ready to lend a helping hand to family and friends, a reflection of her generous spirit and kind heart.
Ella was preceded in death by her devoted and loving husband of sixty-one years, Marvin Marshall; her sister, Ardennia Reed; and her brother, Walter W. "Junior" Moore. She was also preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Rebecca "Becky" Guilliams; her son-in-law, Allan Guilliams; and her great-grandchild, Keegan Martindale-lives too short, but forever cherished.
Those left to cherish her memory include her brothers, Coy, Jay, and Cecil Dale Moore; her sisters, Vada Smith and Wilma Paitsel; her children, Zelda Carroll (Kenny) and Terry Marshall (Melissa); seven grandchildren, Amber (Spencer), Emily (Brett), KC (Nicole), Hugh (Danielle), Julie (Ric), Jessica (Todd), and TW (Anna); and fifteen great-grandchildren, Jameson, Samuel, Rees, Nicholas, Colter, Connor, Hannah, Leo, Luca, Ella, Cade, Luke, Aubrie, Scarlett, and Terry "TT." She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the Good Samaritan community for their unyielding support, love, and compassion during this difficult time. Special thanks are also offered for Becky's selfless dedication in caring for Ella, as well as the unfaltering support of Becky's wonderful daughters, Amber and Emily. Words cannot fully express the appreciation held in the family's hearts.
The family will receive friends at Lotz Funeral Home in Roanoke on Friday, January 16, 2026, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.
A funeral service will be held in the chapel of Lotz Funeral Home on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 2:00 p.m.
Ella's memory will live on through the love she shared, the family she cherished, and the beautiful creations she left behind.
