Ella Nadine Shill Randall
Ella Nadine Shill Randall, a faithful daughter of God, passed away peacefully on
January 2, 2026, in her home in Monticello, Utah.
She was born on October 28, 1928, in Lehi, Arizona to Frank Erastus Shill and Priscilla
Nelson. Ella was the sixth of eight children. Growing up in the rural landscape of Lehi,
Ella developed a lifelong appreciation for nature and industry. As a child, she was often
found swimming in the canals, climbing trees, or helping her father tend to his garden. A
woman of diverse talents, she played the cello in orchestras and sang in many choirs.
She believed that music was a vital part of a purposeful life. She was known for her
adventurous spirit and was never afraid to try new things.
Ella's life was anchored in her testimony of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, which
she considered her most precious gift. She served as a missionary in the Southwest
Indian Mission beginning her service on September 12, 1949. On October 15, 1951, she
was sealed for time and all eternity to her beloved husband, Ruel Silas Randall, in the
Mesa Arizona Temple.
She was a true example of self-reliance, thrift and frugal resourcefulness living by the
motto: "Use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without". Her hands were rarely idle; she
was an expert in gardening, canning and a master quilter who hand-stitched quilts for all
of her grandchildren and many of her great grandchildren. Her craftsmanship was
frequently recognized with awards at the County Fair.
Throughout her life, Ella served faithfully in many callings, including as Relief Society
President, and in the Young Women and Primary organizations. Her service extended to
missions with her husband in Des Moines, Iowa, the Manti Temple and after as a
dedicated ordinance worker in the Monticello Temple.
Ella is preceded in death by her husband, Ruel; her parents; her seven siblings and her
sons, Jared and Sanford.
She leaves behind a vast and loving legacy, survived by her children: Harriett (Warren)
Peterson, Julie Randall Bronson, Becky Randall (widow of Jared), Todd (Roxanne)
Randall, Barbara (Steve) Nygren, Laurie Randall (widow of Sanford), Sheldon (Kerri)
Randall, and Kristin (Jon) Morley. Her influence continues through her 43 grandchildren,
156 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 11am on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at the Monticello
North Chapel in Monticello, Utah. Viewing will be 8:30 – 10:30am prior to the Funeral.
