Ella Mae Shelton was born in Mounds, Pulaski County, Illinois on November 5, 1935 to the late Alvin Dixon and Helen Ross. At an early age, she confessed Christ as her Lord and Savior at St. John Baptist Church in Mounds, Illinois.

She was united in Holy Matrimony to Henry Shelton and from this union seven children were born: Larry, Vickie, Bobbie (decd. at birth), Kevin, Henry, Glenda and Felicia. She cherished her family, who held an extraordinary and valuable place in her heart. She obtained employment with Joliet Federal Savings and Loan and during her time there she was awarded numerous achievements and promotions for her impeccable work ethic and performance. After years of dedicated service, she retired as Payroll Officer.

After retirement, her Legacy of generosity, quiet strength and unwavering faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ continued. She spoke Life and wisdom to everyone she came in contact with. She was dedicated in her generosity to charities, ministries and people. All who knew Ella loved her and described her as sweet, strong, kind, loving and a classy lady.

Ella transitioned from the earthly realm into the everlasting arms of our Heavenly Father on November 19, 2025, where she will join her loved ones that preceded her in death: her husband, Henry Shelton and daughter, Bobbie Shelton.

Ella leaves her Legacy of faith, strength and generosity to her three sons: Larry, Kevin, Henry (Elaina) Shelton; three daughters, Vickie (Bennie) Coble, Glenda (McKinley) Shelton-Williams and Felicia Harris. Twelve Grandchildren: Aaron, Valorie, Anthony, Benjamin, William, Justin, Brandon, Shanelle, Jessica, Jonah, Liberty-Ann and Nicholas and 15 greatgrandchildre; two sisters, Deanna Edwards of Chicago, Illinois and Bobbie Morris of Joliet, Illinois and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
