Ella G Sheppard

Ella G. (Gardner) Sheppard, beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished member of the Indian Orchard and St. Cloud, Florida community, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2025, at a local nursing home in Springfield. She was surrounded by her loving family in her final moments. Born on April 24, 1940, in Queens, New York, Ella was the daughter of the late Christopher and Matilda (Edwards) Gardner. She was a proud graduate of the New York school system and went on to enjoy a long career with AT&T, where she worked diligently . Ella was known for her joyful spirit and many passions. She loved singing karaoke, baking, and creating arts and crafts. However, her greatest joy came from her family, especially her devotion to her children and grandchildren, whom she adored unconditionally. She is survived by her two loving daughters, Joy Sheppard and her husband Lance Green of Springfield, and Kristy Sheppard of Indian Orchard. She was a devoted grandmother to Kalaíi Green, Chandra Green, Zariah Green, and her great grandson Alex. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Ella was predeceased by her beloved husband, Howard Sheppard; her brothers, Joseph Gardner and William Gardner; and her sister, Agnes Bowen, two step sisters Margaret and Nora Gardner, and a step brother Christopher Gardner. Family and friends are invited to a memorial Mass in her honor, which will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Michael's Church, 128 Maple Street, East Longmeadow. Burial will take place privately in Florida. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Byron Keenan Funeral Home, 1858 Allen Street, Springfield. Ella's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
