Ella Smith Obituary
Ella L. Smith, 82, of Spring Mills, PA, formerly of Schuylkill Haven, passed away Saturday, September 27th, at Centre Care of Bellefonte, Bellefonte, PA.
Born in Orwigsburg on November 21, 1942, she was a daughter of the late Calvin J. & Eva (Riegel) Shappell.
She was the widow of Fred E. Smith.
Ella is also preceded in death by her brother, Marlin “Butch” Shappell, survived by Sandra (Strouse).
She worked as the cafeteria manager for State College Area School District.
Ella was a member of St. John's Union Church, Spring Mills.
She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Zajaczkowski and husband, Frank, Centre Hall; son, Jeff Smith and wife, Kristen, New Oxford; grandchildren, Emily Smith, Abby and Branden Zajaczkowski; siblings, Calvin A. Shappell & wife, Barbara, Penny Strouse late wife of Jack, and Clarence “Doot” Shappell late husband of Darleen, and nieces and nephews including Brian Morrison, Wayne, Justin, Scott, Todd and Lance Shappell, Kim Suda, Debra Davis and Bill Strouse.
A Memorial Service will be held on November 8th at 1 pm at St John's Union Church,Spring Mills, PA.
A graveside service will be held Friday, November 21st at Union Cemetery, Schuylkill Haven, at 11:30 AM.
The family prefers remembrances in the form of contributions in Ella’s name to St John's Union Church, 296 Ridge Rd, Spring Mills PA 16875 or to a charity of your choice.
