Ellen Louise Bearden, 93 years young, peacefully passed away and entered heaven’s gate, on January 21, 2023 at Annie Penn Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was a resident at the Penn Center for the past 5 years where she received the greatest care. Ellen enjoyed Bingo, the beach, shopping and spending time with her family. Ellen was a devoted Christian, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She was born on August 28, 1929 to Henry and Clyde Thornton in Sampson County, North Carolina. She was the wife of James Eugene Bearden and had five children, nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Memorial Service will be held at Burton Memorial Missionary Baptist Church in Reidsville on Tuesday January 24th at 2:00pm with Rev. John Wicker. Family will accept visitation from family and friends from 1:30pm-2:00pm. Burial/Graveside service will be immediately following at the church cemetery. Also, the family will accept visitations at daughter’s home at 591 Flat Rock Rd.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, husband James Bearden, brothers (Paul and Clayton Haney, Gene, Lonnie, Jerry, Norwood and Charlie Thornton), sons-in-law Frank Thacker and Danny Pegram, and grandson Jonathan Thacker.
To carry on her legacy here on earth are: Sons -Charlie Carty Jr. (wife Patsy) of Greensboro and David Bearden (wife Beverly) of Reidsville, Daughters: Patricia Pegram of King, Brenda Thacker of Reidsville and Theresa Moore (husband Steve) of Reidsville, Grandchildren: Kelly Carty (Tabitha), Danielle Cockerham (Monte), Dan Pegram (Laura), Rebekah Guthrie(Caleb), Angie Thacker, Brent Moore (Jordan), Dylan Bearden, Brad Hemric, Great-Grandchildren: Katie, Haley, Logan, Aiden, Ryan, Tyler, Avaleigh, Lilly, Garrett, Logan, Annabell, Charli, Blake, Jameson, Katelyn, Everly, Great-Great grandchildren Westlynn and Cooper.
