Ellen Waite Carpenter, age 81, of Midland, Michigan, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Ellen was born on August 18, 1944, in Midland, Michigan, to her late parents and grew up with a deep love for family and faith. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Charles Carpenter, her parents, and several siblings.
Ellen's greatest joy in life was her family, who will forever cherish her kindness, strength, and unconditional love. She leaves behind her devoted children: Bill Carpenter (Margie), Traci Clark (Christopher), and Sara Smith (Jeff); grandchildren: Eric Smith (Madison), Joseph Decker (Marie), and William Carpenter; and great-grandchildren: Paisley Smith, Piper Smith, and Silas Decker. Ellen is also survived by her loving brothers, Hub Waite and Rich Waite.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Ellen's life during visitation on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Ware Smith Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 W. Wheeler St., Midland, MI 48640.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Nease Memorial Church of the Nazarene, 5315 Isabella St., Midland, MI 48640, under the direction of Rev. Tom Surdenik. A graveside service and luncheon will follow.

Ellen will be remembered for her faith, warmth, and the love she poured into every life she touched. Her legacy lives on in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who will carry her spirit forward with grace and love.
