Ellen Odester Dixon, 58, beloved mother of the Dixon family, peacefully passed away on January 30, 2025, in her home surrounded by her loving children.

Ladybug, as she was affectionately called by her family, was born on February 15, 1966, in Chicago, Illinois. Ellen’s unwavering faith guided her life and her approach to motherhood.

Ellen’s greatest joy and achievement was her large, close-knit family. She had an extraordinary gift for nurturing deep, long lasting relationships with those around her. Her home was always open, serving as a gathering place for family and friends. Ellen's greatest joy came from spending time with her family and fostering a loving environment. ‍ She was particularly passionate about learning new things and traveling. She loved to shop, play games, and watch movies.

As a mother of four, and grandmother of nine, Ellen was the heart of our family. She instilled her children with strong values and religious beliefs. Her kitchen was the gathering place for holiday celebrations, and impromptu family meetings. Our mother had a knack for remembering every birthday, anniversary, and important date in her children's and grandchildren's lives, never failing to send a card or make a call. She never failed to show up for those around her.

Ellen was preceded in death by her father, Frederick Dixon; and sister, Etta Dixon.

Her beautiful life is left to be cherished by her mother, Jacqueline Dixon; sister, Jean Perkins; brother, Frederick Dixon; children, (bonus son) Charles (Sharon) Davis, April (Joe) Jackson, Ashley (Jordan) Dale, Charles Dixon, and Amber Dixon, along with their growing families.

A celebration of Ellen's life will be held on February 7, 2025, at 12:00 p.m., with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until the service time, at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, 5111 W 62nd St, Indianapolis, IN 46268, where she was a devoted member. All donations will go towards the future of her grandchildren.

Ellen was our rock, our hearts are deeply broken with the untimely death of our amazing mother. Please keep our family in your prayers.
