I am so shocked and saddened to hear of Ellen Doyle´s passing, I miss her already.
Ellen was wonderful. I worked with Ellen on the Democratic 4th Ward Committee and I enjoyed every moment of it. She worked so tirelessly on the committee and did a great job as the ward chairman. When I went through a flood in my current apartment, Ellen made it a point to find out what hotel I was staying at and helped me get back up on my feet. This was just one of many wonderful, caring things she did for people.Ellen and Larry would take the committee out for dinner, they would give me a ride to and from the 4th ward committee meetings and thanks to our ward chairman Ellen, I always felt we the 4th ward is a family.
Rest on Ellen, till we meet again!

On my return from travelling, I was very sad to hear of Ellen's passing at our weekly French conversation group. Ellen was a long time wonderful member of our group, enthusiastic, engaging, and a valued member both on Saturdays and during our occasional soirées. I and we will greatly miss her presence and spirit!

It's with sadness that I learned of the passing of Aunt Ellen. I have fond memories of her positive outlook and upbeat personality. When she visited San Diego, I remember we had some good dinners and easy conversation. May she rest in peace.

Ellen was a true champion of the pursuit of truth, freedom and justice. May we all honor her legacy by continuing to fight for the ideas she lived by and fought for. May her memory be both a blessing and an inspiration for us all.

Ellen was the only other graduate of Northeastern University School of Law I knew of besides me when I returned to Pittsburgh in 1988. I was instantly drawn to her - I admired her and looked up to her. Our legal community has lost a great one. Candace Cain

Ellen was a force of nature. That small body housed a large heart and a bigger brain both put in the service of fighting the negative and toxic forces in society. She often won---she was that good. Those of us who were lucky enough to work with her learned and grew in important ways. Her loss is irretrivable, and my heart goes out to Larry and her family.

I met Ellen through the Women in the Law Division and also worked with her on political activity as well. I was so in awe of her intelligence, passion and fierce commitment to justice. She was inspiring to me, and it is hard to wrap my head around the idea that her time on this earth is over. Her energy seemed endless. She served as a shining example for women lawyers. She will be greatly missed. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Dear Larry, Winnie and Cory,
My deepest sympathy on your loss. I knew and treasured Ellen as a neighbor, friend, mentor and cheerleader. She was brilliant, effervescent, extravagantly supportive and affectionate. The world is better because of her.

Larry, Winnie and Cory,
Ellen was one of the most important persons in my life both professionally and personally. She took a chance, hiring me as an inexperienced lawyer moving from Chicago back to my hometown. For the next 17 years I worked in the office next to her. I learned much from her about the using the law to protect and preserve the rights of individuals from corporate or government invasions. But more than that, Ellen took an interest in me as a person. She was always inquisitive of how I was doing; what did I do over the weekend? how were my parents? what was going on with my friends? and what was the gossip in my life? She made me laugh often and much. She was the mastermind behind one of the greatest April Fool´s jokes of all-time in which I was enlisted as a participant. She also was the architect of one of the greatest nights of my life. One day, I walked into her office remarking that I was required by law to get married within two weeks. She jumped into action and arranged to have Judge Wettick give vows in a private ceremony. All of this was followed by a rip-roaring dinner party at a restaurant on Mt. Washington with Ellen providing much of energy. Next year will mark my 25th wedding anniversary and we know Ellen´s spirit will be there adorned in sequins, enjoying the celebration.
RIP Ellen
Our deepest condolences.

Larry: my heart goes out to you, Winnie and Cory. As you can well imagine, the news was devastating to me and many others. It is hard to believe that this time 50 years ago, Ellen and I were commiserating while waiting for the bar result. And then 40 years later we were battling over the misogynistic behavior of a Pa. Supreme Court justice. She was such a champion for fairness and that is how I will remember her. You have all my thoughts of love and I wish that some comfort will come over the years. Love Sudie

Ellen was one of the many characters on Schenley Farms Terrace that to this day make it a special place. Ellen & Larry were a striking couple in many respects, but was most amazing to me was her energy density: a petite powerhouse!
Her memory serves as a blessing across many identities.

Dear Larry, Winnefred and Cornelius,
I was so very sad and shocked to hear of Ellen's passing. She was such a vibrant and amazing woman! An excellent and fierce lawyer and advocate not only for her clients but for many causes, including women in the legal profession. She helped me personally as a young lawyer (only 9 years her junior but she was so experienced!) I know she helped countless others. She was always talking with great joy about her family. I cannot imagine how difficult this must be for you. Treasure the memories. My thoughts are with you all.
