Ellen Green Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Direct Cremation of Maine - Belfast on Feb. 3, 2026.
Norway-Ellen "Lorraine" Green passed away peacefully January 30th in Norway in the arms of her husband following a long period of declining health.

Lorraine was born April 16, 1955, in Lewiston, the daughter of Roderick and Amy (Bellavance) Newton. She attended schools in Buckfield, Sumner, and graduated from Leavitt High School in 1973. She was employed at Paris Mfg where she met her future husband Lloyd "Mike" Green. She also worked at Cornwall lndustries, Oxford Aviation, and she retired from Hannaford in Oxford in 2017. She made many friends with co-workers and customers at Hannaford.

On November 14, 1975, she married Lloyd "Mike" Green in South Paris, and they recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. In 1977 she welcomed her daughter Jennifer to the world, and she was so proud of the wonderful person Jen is.

In 2001, Lorraine suffered terrible injuries when she was struck by a car while she and Mike were taking a walk. Her indomitable spirit and grit helped her overcome all that was thrown at her. She was able to experience joy at Jen's wedding in 2003, and the birth of her grandson Logan in 2005.

She is survived by her husband Lloyd "Mike" Green, daughter Jennifer Spencer (Dennis) Grandchildren Logan Spencer and Taylor Poulin. Brothers Lawrence Newton (Kendra), Michael Newton (Kelly), Terry Richardson-Newton (Tracey), and Matthew Newton. Sisters Patsy Stevens (Rock), and Trudy O'Connor (Shawn).

She was predeceased by her parents, her brother Johnny Newton, sister Janie Lucas, and her beloved grandmother Ellen Newton.

She is now pain free and probably sitting at a slot machine or scratching a lottery ticket. Win Big. She will be missed very much.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Stephens Memorial Hospital, especially Helena, and Market Square Health care, especially Nitsa and Kessim. You are truly wonderful.

A celebration of life for Ellen will be held at a later date.
