Ellen Lowry Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Coker-Mathews Funeral Home on Feb. 8, 2026.
Ellen Rose Lowry, of Greenville Texas, went home to be with the Lord on February 6, 2026, in Greenville Texas. Funeral services will be held on Friday February 13, 2026, at 2:00PM at Ridgecrest Baptist Church with Pastor Nick Dorsey and Dr. David Stubblefield officiating. Burial will follow at Memoryland Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday February 12, 2026, from 6:00PM - 8:00PM at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home.

Ellen was born on October 4, 1960, in Greenville Texas to Mike and Sue Hendricks. She had a tender, loving, caring, exciting, life of the party, personality. She never knew a stranger and was loved and cherished by so many in her family and community. Ellen grew up in Greenville and married her high school sweetheart, Karl Alan Lowry. They celebrated 43 years of marriage on January 2nd. Ellen had many different careers growing up. She started at McGaughey's Pharmacy as a prescription typist on a manual typewriter. She worked for her brother, Dr. Joel Hendricks, doing medical paperwork, and for Dr. James Sandin doing office administration. She spent the last 20 years working for Scott, Ray, Pemberton and Goll as the office manager and paralegal. She loved every job that she ever had and worked it as her mission field to spread the love of Jesus that she had in her heart. Ellen was an active member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church, and her heart and ministry was purely focused on the children and youth of Ridgecrest. She has served as children's choir director, VBS director, choir and praise team, pre-teen camp counselor, youth counselor, youth small group leader, nursery volunteer and countless other ministries. She embodied the gift of service and love from her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was saved as a young girl and lived her life every day to serve him. She taught her family the way to be a servant for Christ and what it truly means to be a Christian. She loved her family and cherished her three grandchildren. Ellen was an amazing, God-fearing woman, a bright spot in every room and she will be truly and deeply missed.

Ellen is survived by her sons, James Lowry and wife Courtney; Michael Lowry and wife Caite; grandchildren, Logan and Lainey Rose Lowry and Rustin Lowry; Siblings, Joel Hendricks and wife Katrina, Kathy Edinger and husband Emery, Cecilia Money and husband Dale; father-in-law, Amos Lowry; sisters-in-law, Brenda Morris and husband, Rick, Kathy Sorrells; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband Karl Lowry, and her parents, Mike and Sue Hendricks and mother-in-law, Fayrene Lowry.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Money, Patrick Money, Aaron Money, Timothy Money, Mitchell Money, Joshua Edinger, Kevin Morris, and Ben Scott.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ridgecrest Baptist Church Youth Group, 6801 Wesley St., Greenville, Texas 75402.
