Ellen F. Nelson

Ellen F. Nelson, 84, of Marshfield, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2025. She was born on September 9, 1941, in Oswego, New York, the cherished daughter of Carol and Thomas Farrell.

Ellen was the devoted wife of Dr. Clement A. Nelson and a loving, proud mother to her three sons, Erik Nelson, Scott Nelson, and Todd Nelson. She found her greatest joy in her role as grandmother to Teddie and Katherine Nelson, Jacob and Aaron Nelson, and Kyle Thompson, delighting in every moment spent with them. Ellen was truly happiest when surrounded by her family.

She was preceded in death by her brother Ned Farrell and is survived by her brother Butch Farrell, along with many extended family members and dear friends.

Early in her life, Ellen worked as a flight attendant, a career that reflected her adventurous spirit, warmth, and love of connecting with people. She later devoted herself fully to her family as a homemaker, creating a home filled with love, stability, and care. Ellen attended Barry College in Miami, Florida, and carried her love of learning, faith, and service throughout her life.

Ellen was a woman of remarkable talent and many interests. She was widely admired as a world-class bird carver, an art form that perfectly reflected her patience, skill, and deep appreciation for nature. An avid golfer, she also found peace and happiness outdoors, especially in the places she loved most-her homes at Severance Lodge Club on Kezar Lake in Lovell, Maine, and the family farm in Chatham, New Hampshire. These special places were central to her happiest memories and reflected her lifelong connection to the natural world.

A woman of strong Catholic faith, Ellen lived with quiet grace, kindness, and compassion. She was a loyal friend to many and will be remembered for her gentle presence, generous heart, and unwavering devotion to her family.

A celebration of Ellen's life will be held at a future date.
