Ellen Peck Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Townley & Wheeler Funeral Home on Mar. 20, 2026.
Dateline Amsterdam, NY

Ellen T. Peck, age 83, died on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam. Ellen was born on October 11, 1942, in Wolcott, NY and was the daughter of the late Forster and Vera (Jones) Tinney.

Ellen met her husband, Robert, while being involved in 4-H, where she was first friends with his sister Peggy. Together, Ellen and Robert were the perfect balance to the other. Ellen was a caretaker as she was selfless and led with a kind heart. Throughout her life, she would take in anyone who needed a place and treat them as one of her own family. Whether this was a place to stay, an extra plate at the dinner table, or just a place to store your things. Ellen could be counted on.

Ellen was strong in her faith and actively involved in her church community all throughout her life. She began attending the Clifton Park Center Baptist Church at the age of 10 when her family moved nearby and remained a member until her passing. Throughout her years, she worked in the church nursery, volunteered for many activities and was a beloved active member of the quilting group. Ellen was well known for her baked goods, especially her cookies, pumpkin chocolate chip muffins and morning glory muffins. Ellen was also a long-time member of the Quaker Springs Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary.

Ellen is survived by her children, Burton Peck, Vera-Ruth Peck and F. Amos and Alison Peck; her granddaughter, Courtney Bolton and step-grandsons Chris Reome and Charlie Reome; her great-grandchildren Rylee and Corey Bolton and several step-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Jeannette Tinney, Karen Tinney, Alice Reeves, Jean Lamondo and Margaret "Peggy" and Tom Fisk, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Ellen is preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. Peck; her daughter-in-law, Donna (Barnes) Peck; her brothers, Edwin Tinney, Gilbert Tinney and Paul Tinney and her brother-in-law, Larry Reeves.

Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Thursday, March 26, 2026, from 2:00-3:00pm, at the Clifton Park Center Baptist Church, 713 Clifton Park Center Rd, Clifton Park, NY.

A Funeral Service will conclude the afternoon at 3:00pm.

The family requests absolutely no real or scented flowers. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Quaker Springs Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 67, Schuylerville, NY 12871, or to the Clifton Park Center Baptist Church, 713 Clifton Park Center Rd, Clifton Park, NY 12065.
