Ellen Jean Petty

Ellen Jean Petty passed away peacefully on August 29, 2025, in Redding, California, at the age of 86.
Born on March 17, 1939, in Binger, Oklahoma, Ellen was one of seven children of Willam Elmo and Tulah Buelah Morrow. Her family later relocated to Klamath, California, where she met her future husband,
Frank Petty Jr. They were married on March 11,
1957, beginning a devoted union that lasted 68
years. Just days before their wedding, on March 5, 1957, Ellen and Frank committed their lives to Christ.
Their shared faith became the cornerstone of a lifelong ministry. For over three decades, they pastored three churches and recorded several gospel albums that continue to inspire. Their dedication
to spiritual service left a lasting impact on their
community and family. Ellen and Frank raised five children. Three were born in Crescent City before the family moved to Weed in 1963; the remaining two were born in Mount Shasta. She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Frank Petty Jr.; children Cheri Denise Nicholas, David Frank (Julie) Petty, Elizabeth Ann (John) Gomes, and Melissa Michele Petty; sister Laverne Shandrew; brother Bill (Linda) Morrow; grand- children Danielle (Travis) Sproat, Ryan Nicholas, Cassie Petty, Amanda Petty (Josh Hoyt), and Trae Barr; and great-grandchildren Bryce Jaurigue, An-
gel Nicholas, Amina Nicholas, and Elena Nicholas.She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Ellen was preceded in death by her daughter Leah Suzeanne Barr; son-in-law John Joseph Gomes; sisters Aileen Carter and Christine Kender; and brothers Darrell Morrow and Willard Morrow.
A celebration of life will be held at Redding
Christian Fellowship on September 26, 2025, at
1:00 p.m., located at 2157 Victor Ave., Redding,
CA 96002.
Ellen's steadfast faith and love remain a lasting
legacy to all who knew her.
