Our Dad and Zadie Elliot Herbert Weiser, was born on a beautiful spring day, May 1, 1930, in Brooklyn, New York. In 1951, he left Ohio State University to bravely serve his country in the Korean War. After the war ended, our dad returned to Ohio State and graduated. Not taking a break he soon began a job at the IRS by day and went to law school at night.
With his law degree in hand, in 1960, our father left New York. He had made it there, so he knew he could make it anywhere, and took a job at the NLRB (National Labor Relations Board). They were looking for someone with a law degree and a computer background. Our father had both and was hired on the spot.
Four years later, he met our mother, Shirley Baumgarten, on a beautiful, balmy August day in 1964. They were married eight months later, in 1965. Together they had two daughters, Rachelle (1975) and Stefanie (1969).
They made their home in Silver Spring, Maryland, and lived there for over 55 years.
Our father died in his sleep on February 20, 2026. He lived to see his grandchildren grow up and his great-grandchildren be born.
Herb Weiser was adored and loved by all of us, and we were so lucky to have him for all the years that we did.
And one day, when you get to Heaven, you will see him there, wearing his Korean veteran hat, smoking a cigarette, and running to first base. He probably had just finished an ice cream sundae.
And he will be smiling. Services entrusted to Sagel Bloomfield Danzansky Goldberg Funeral Care.
