Elliott Laurence Foss Jr

Elliott was a man of many hats. He served his country proudly for 25 years of his life as a Medic/Submariner aboard various subs. The USS KAMEHAMENA, USS JACK and the USS GEORGE WASHINGTON CARVER to name a few. He ended his illustrious career at US Navy Base at Kingsland, GA, as a Hospital Corpsman Master Chief, a highly decorated NCO (non-commission officer).

After his Navy career, he went on to do many wonderful things. He served in the American Legion helping veterans at the Local, District, State, and National levels, serving six years as National Chaplin. Elliott was the current Chaplin of District 12, Post 21 Adjutant for the Sons of American Legion and one of the founding members of the American Legion Riders. In his 30 plus years, working with the Legion he helped many of our veterans and put smiles on so many faces. He will be greatly missed. Outside of service, Elliott was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather and was always there for his family no matter what. He inspired us all to be a better person in all that we did and continue to do in our lives.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Georgia Lee Foss, son, Tim and wife, Kate, daughter, Susan Miller and husband, Dennis Miller, His sisters, Elaine Howard, Becky Irwin, Amy and brother, Dale Church as well as several grand and great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his mother, father, and son, Mike Foss.
