Elliott A. Goolsby

Elliott Albert Goolsby, age 75 of Cataula, GA, passed away Saturday, November 22, 2025 at St. Frances Hospital in Columbus.
Mr. Goolsby was born December 24, 1949 in Cataula, GA, the son of Woodrow Wilson Goolsby and Audrey Ellen Hewitt Goolsby. He was a lifelong resident of Cataula and attended Cataula Elementary School and later Harris County High School. During his teen years, he developed a strong work ethic while working for Mr. Len Taylor of Taylor Logging Company. He worked a few years for the Bibb Mill, and afterwards went to work for Columbus Carpet Mill, where he worked as a mechanic in maintenance until the mill closed thirty-one years later. After the mill closure, he went to work for Callaway Gardens, where he worked in maintenance for four years before retiring.
Mr. Goolsby was a member of Cataula Methodist Church, having begun attending there with his grandparents and parents. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and just being out in the woods. He loved the outdoors and he especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Miriam Ellen Goolsby Goad; a brother, Donald Mark Goolsby; and a grandson, Tyler Goolsby.
He is survived by his two daughters, Karen Goolsby (Mark Presley) of Hilham, TN, and Dawn Fugatt (Edward) of Alabama; his brother, Kenny Goolsby of Cataula; four grandchildren, Victoria Brooke Kennedy Dietz, Robert Kennedy, Kaira Oxley, and Zachary Goolsby; two great-grandchildren, Lilah Grace Dietz and Hazel Faye Dietz; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
