Elly Geworsky

Mrs. Elly (Behre) Geworsky passed away at the Coaldale Health Centre on Sunday, July 2, 2023, at the age of 90 years.
Elly, 1 of 5 children, was born on April 9, 1933, in Hattorf un Harz, Kreis Osterode, Germany to parents Hermann and Luise Behre. She immigrated to Canada with her husband Daniel in May of 1951. They made their way to Coaldale in March of 1953, where they lived for most of their lives.
Elly was a mother and a homemaker. She hoed beets every summer to help pay off their house and pay for her trip back to Germany for a visit after 20 years away. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, reading, listening to music and playing cards. She went to listen to her son in law's band playing rock music, and at 70 went to her first concert with her daughter, "Celtic Thunder", and to Blairmore for "Thunder in the Valley" fireworks. She enjoyed traveling, sightseeing and loved family gatherings. Elly's life has been filled with adventure.
Elly leaves behind 5 children Ursula (Frank) Loseth, Elfriede "Fritz" (Bruce) Atkinson, Hermann Geworsky, Betty Watson and John Geworsky; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and 2 great great granddaughters.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm, on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610, 4 STREET SOUTH, Lethbridge, Alberta, with Dr. Bruce Martin, officiating.
