HARROW, Elma W. (Hurst) - of Montrose, age 91, passed away Monday, September 3, 2007 at the Frankenmuth Lutheran Home. Funeral services will be held 11am Friday, September 7, 2007 at the Montrose United Methodist Church. Rev. Wayne Ferrigan officiating with burial at Montrose Township Cemetery. Friends may call at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Montrose on Wednesday from 5-9pm and Thursday from 12-4 & 6-9pm. An O.E.S. memorial service will be held at 7pm. In lieu of flowers those desiring may make memorial contributions to Hospice of Hope in Frankenmuth. Elma was born November 30, 1915 in Mohall, North Dakota to the late Charles E. and Nellie (Lee) Hurst and was raised in Maxpass, ND until graduation from high school. She moved to Montrose to live and work with her sister's family. They were Harlan and Hazel Holmes. She met John E. Harrow and they were married on April 7, 1937 and went on to spend almost 55 years together. Elma had learned to play the piano in her early years and went on to teach many people in the Montrose area. She also accompanied High School Glee Clubs and played for various Masonic, Eastern Star and Job's Daughter meetings. She also played piano and organ for many years at the Montrose United Methodist Church. Other occupations in her busy life were as a butcher for a frozen food market and secretary/bookkeeper for the UAW hall at the Fisher Coldwater Plant. She retired with 42 years seniority at the age of 82. She leaves behind to cherish her memory: children, James L., Judith L. (Fred) Gosain, John R. (Julie) and Ruth; grandchildren, Rob, Mark, Tim, Matt, Fred, Cyndi, Lou, Gregory and Amber; great grandchildren, Stephanie, Amanda, Eric, Nicholas, Jinny and Halley; special niece, Yvonne (Ernie) Beers and family; sisters-in-law, Kathleen Hewitt and Eleanor Hurst; many nieces and nephews and cousins across the Northern US and Ontario. She has finally rejoined her beloved husband Jack, son Duane "Pete", brothers, Lynn and Lowell Hurst, brother-in-law, Joe Hewitt and grandson, Dave Harrow. The family wishes to thank the staffs of the Lutheran Home and Hospice of Hope for the wonderful care of their mother.
