Elmer Charles Roberts

Elmer Roberts passed away on January 4, 2024 in Madisonville, Texas surrounded by his family. He was born January 28, 1949 in Cleveland, Texas to Harvey Dewey & Syble (Campbell) Roberts. Elmer was in the Army and served two tours in Vietnam. When he came home from the Army, he was in construction, and after that is where he found his love for kids in Cleveland ISD and Tarkington ISD Athletic Department.
Elmer loved being outdoors, hunting, fishing, gardening, fixing fences, riding the mule around checking on cows, and any other piddling he could find outside.
Elmer was preceded in death by both of his parents. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Roberts of Madisonville, Texas; children, Dewey (Rebecca) Roberts of Madisonville, Texas, Clint (Kristie Bittick) Roberts of Riverside, Texas, and Tricia (Lane) Hawthorne of Tarkington, Texas; grandchildren, Haley (Bobby) Harkins of Evergreen, Texas, Ashley (Cody Linney) Roberts of Slidell, Louisiana, and Nikki Roberts of Madisonville, Texas; and great-grandchildren, Carter, Charleigh and Crew Harkins.
A memorial service for Elmer will be held at 3 P.M., Sunday, January 14, 2024 at Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas. Pastor Wade Phillips will officiate the service. Visitation will be from 2 P.M. until service time at the funeral home.
