Elmer J. Sand, age 95, of Bemidji, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at Goldpine Home in Bemidji.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 16, 2026 at Cease Family Funeral Home in Bemidji, Minnesota. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Elmer was born on October 14, 1930, in Solway, Minnesota, the son of Paul C. and Amalie "Molly" Sand. He was raised and educated in Solway. In 1952, Elmer was drafted into the United States Army and served in Germany until receiving his honorable discharge in 1954.

On July 21, 1954, he was united in marriage to June Pfuhlman. In 1968, they made their home in Bemidji, Minnesota, where Elmer worked as a skilled carpenter, building numerous homes throughout the Bemidji area. He took great pride in his craftsmanship, strong work ethic, and the satisfaction of building things that would be used and enjoyed by others.

Elmer was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He cherished time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed building projects, fishing, camping, crafts, puzzles, and had a fondness for sweets.

Elmer is survived by his loving wife, June Sand; his children Duane (Diana) Sand, Larry (Brenda) Sand, Gary (Shelley) Sand, Tammy (Ken) Moen, and Kathy (Mike) Huber; 13 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; his brothers Norman (Jenny) Sand, Richard Sand, and Raymond Sand; and his sister-in-law, Phyllis Sand.

He was preceded in death by his siblings Alice Kastner, Hazel Moe, and Harold Sand.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to Dr. Will, Nurse Jane, the emergency room staff, cardiology staff, the compassionate caregivers at Goldpine Home, and Pastor John. The kindness, dignity, and care shown to Elmer and his family will always be remembered. Elmer was blessed with his friendships with the lovely residents at Gold Pine.
