Elmer Fletcher Singleton

Elmer Fletcher Singleton, 83, of North Manchester, Indiana, formerly of rural Wabash, died at 7:35pm Sunday, February 22, 2009 at Peabody Healthcare Center in North Manchester. He was born September 27, 1925 in Whitestown, Indiana to William Fletcher and Blanche (Kingsolver) Singleton. Elmer married Josephine Eileen Eakright in Wabash on November 15, 1947; she died in 1963. He then married Sharon Miller in Wabash on January 18, 1964. He worked at General Tire in Wabash 40 years, retiring in 1987. He was a member of the Honeywell Golf Course. Elmer loved to bowl and golf, and was a longtime baseball umpire in Wabash area leagues. He was also a WWII US Army veteran. He is survived by Wife, Sharon Singleton of North Manchester; Daughter, Connie Jean (John) Hoffer of Morrow, Ohio; Son, Jeffrey (Susan) Singleton of North Manchester; 3 Brothers, Clifford Singleton of Kokomo, Indiana, Raymond (Maxine) Singleton of Wabash, Indiana, Floyd "Curley" Singleton of Maitland, Florida; Sister, Oleta Manship of Noblesville, Indiana; 8 Grandchildren, 10 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Terry Singleton, 5 brothers, 4 sisters, a grandson, and a granddaughter. Funeral services will be held at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Ave. Wabash on Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at 10:30am. Burial will be in South Pleasant Cemetery, Wabash County, Indiana. Friends may call 4-8pm Tuesday at the funeral home. Preferred memorial is Peabody Caring Circle.
