Elmer Calvin Vandeventer, age 97, resident of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed from this life at home with his family by his side. Elmer was born February 20, 1926, to Elmer Floyd and Maude (Edens) Vandeventer, in
Denton, Texas. He retired as a tool builder with Rockwell International at the age of 62. Elmer married Julia (Cline) Gilley June 18, 2010, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
He is survived by his wife, Julia Vandeventer; children, Patricia Hendrix(Terry), Pamela Goggans (Cliff) and Perry Vandeventer; grandchildren: Shallen Burnett(Ben), Melynna Johnson(Paul), Justin Goggans (Amanda), Carley Jo Goggans, and Lindsey Vandeventer; great-grandchildren: Chase Johnson, Marissa Johnson, Benjamin Goggans, Thomas Goggans, Alexander Goggans, and Jasper Vandeventer; bonus children: Vivian Gilley, Cynthia Gilley, Terry Gilley, and James Gilley(Deceased); bonus grandchildren: Jason Gilley(Amalia), Jerome Gilley, Ashley Sharp, and Mitchell Gilley(Kari); bonus great-grandchildren: EmmaRae Gilley, Elijah Gilley, Natalea Sharp, Alivia Sharp, and Kaedyn Hutchcraft; sisters: Dessie Mae Wilson and Betty Adams; sisters-in-law: Mary Jo Watson and Martha Clark; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Elmer is preceded in death by his parents: Elmer and Maude Vandeventer, siblings: Marvin Glen, Esle Beatrice, Eva Fay, and Lou Etheridge; and first wife: Laura Vandeventer.
Visitation will be held 5:00 PM-7:00 PM, Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at Floral Haven Funeral Home,
Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
A Celebration of Life service will be held 10:00 AM, Thursday, May 18, 2023, at North Sheridan Church of Christ Church, 1313 North Sheridan Avenue, Tulsa, Oklahoma.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Elmer's name and honor to the Hope Harbor Children's Home in Claremore, Oklahoma.
