Yesterday
My uncle Elmo, my father Adolfo´s brother, was, and still is, the main reason why I was able to get a second chance at life. If it weren´t for him and my aunt Clara, who sponsored me almost forty years ago and basically adopted me at the age of 24 by taking me in their home, definitely things wouldn´t have turned out as well as they did.
And throughout the years I got to see him touch so many lives in ways that only he could because of his compassion, empathy, energy, exuberance, and kindness.
He loved life´s challenges more than anything else and nothing would scare him away from accomplishing his goals, while building lifelong friendships and mentoring individuals into becoming better people and better leaders.
If you ever sat with him at one of his family or holiday dinners, you´d never forget it. It was like having a meal with Warren Buffet, Plato, Machiavelli, and Napoleon all at once. What a ride!!!
Rest in peace, zio Elmo, and in my book you´ll always be, in your own words, Numero Uno.
My whole family and I would like to extend our deepest condolences to my aunt Clara, my cousins Gino and Robert, their wives Mary Elena and Lisa, and their children Giuliana, Alessandra, Kira, and Alex.

I want to extend my deepest condolences during this incredibly difficult time. He was truly a light in every room - someone who could bring joy and laughter to anyone´s face. His gentle spirit and humble nature made everyone feel welcomed, and he was a remarkable role model to so many. He will be deeply missed by all of us.

I am his niece Lucia Dell'Unto from Italy daughter of his sister Maria Dell'Unto as my sister has written he was much loved by her. I remember her telling me how when he was young he would always ask her to iron his shirts so that he would make a good impression when he would go out. Zio Elmo gave my parents the opportunity to come to America and I thank him for this because our lives were enriched in so many ways. Three days before he died I dreamt him. He was with my mother. They were sitting together at a table happily talking. This is how I picture him now sitting around a table once again but with all his family in Heaven.

Such a kind man. Both Elmo and Clara. I rented one of my first apartments from him over 40 years ago. Would run into him at Elmos in Vernon. Always remembered me and my daughter.

I have so many fond memories of Elmo as he gave both my partner and me an opportunity to open a restaurant that he had owned. He was always mentoring us and was just a kind soul. May you rest in peace my friend...
