Eloise "Elly" Calvaruso

Eloise "Elly" Calvaruso, age 97 of St. Charles, Missouri passed peacefully away in her sleep on September 26, 2023. She was born on November 6, 1925 in St. Johns, Michigan to Clarence and Ruth (Sutfin) Phinney. Eloise is preceded in death by her husband Frank P. Calvaruso, her parents Clarence and Ruth Phinney, siblings Francis Brandt and Stanley Phinney.
Elly was raised on a mint farm in Eaton Rapids, Michigan where she learned the value of hard work as well as the multitude of uses for mint. Elly loved sharing fond memories of her farm upbringing. Elly graduated from Eaton Rapids High School in 1943. She later married Frank P.
Calvaruso in Albion, Michigan on January 7, 1945. As life progressed, Elly moved to Coldwater, Michigan and eventually landed at Coldwater Lake. She and Frank spent summers on the lake and winters in Naples, Florida. Elly loved spending time in the sunshine boating and driving around in her yellow convertible. Elly, with her charismatic smile was always the life of the party.
Another phase of life ushered a move to St. Charles, Missouri in 2007 to be closer to family. It was at Fairwinds Rivers Edge that she created another family with residents and staff. Elly's love of life continued at Friday Night Happy Hours and weekly Bingo games, filled with laughs and friendships. Elly became a Halloween legend at Fairwinds Rivers Edge where she celebrated many first prize costumes bringing out her spirit of competitiveness.
Elly and Frank spent a cherished life raising their children, spoiling grandchildren, and excessively spoiling their great grandchildren. It was never unknown that this was their greatest blessings and joy.
Eloise "Elly" is survived by her children, Susan (Garth Burdette) Wilber of St. Charles, Missouri, Frank E. (Petra) Calvaruso of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida and Judy (Tony) Gruner of Ocala, Florida; her grandchildren, Sarah (Lance) Lawson, Seth (Laura) Wilber, Sofia Calvaruso, Lee (Justin) Bedecs, Matthew Gruner and John Gruner; her great-grandchildren, Grant Lawson, Evan Lawson, Ben Wilber, Ryan Wilber, Charlie Wilber, Shuggie Furra, Lana Zuck and Chase Zuck; her Niece, Suki Kisling and nephew Spencer Phinney. She will be dearly missed by many other family members and friends.
