Mrs. Eloise Trapp Raines

Eloise Trapp Raines, 92, of Blythewood, SC passed away on December 2, 2025. She was a daughter of the late Thomas Marion and Nannie Branham Trapp.

Eloise graduated from Blythewood High School with honors. She retired from the US Postal Service as a rural mail carrier.

She married her husband, John, in 1951; they enjoyed 54 years together. She especially enjoyed family dinners and celebration trips to the beach each year with family and especially loved going to their grandson's ball games. She and John enjoyed many trips across the state as well as traveling with the Primetimers Senior Group at church. She enjoyed sewing and made so many beautiful things for her friends and family over the years. She loved crocheting and gardening, growing delicious vegetables and beautiful flowers in her yard.

One thing she took great pride in was her many entries into the State Fair for her biscuits and various sewn items. She has a box full of ribbons for her entries.

She was a lifelong member of Sandy Level Baptist Church where she was a member of the Gleaners Sunday School Class, WMU and Primetimers. She also enjoyed singing in the church choir for many years. She served as the church treasurer for 47 years; there is a plaque displayed to commemorate her time in this role.

She is survived by her grandsons, Thomas Smith (Rachel) of Summerville, SC and Scott Smith of Blythewood, SC, and her sister-in-law Martha Ann Trapp of Blythewood, SC. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, John, daughters, Anne Raines Smith and Sharon K. Raines, brother, Joe Trapp, sisters, Minnie Smith, Betty Belk and Beatrice Howard.

The service for Eloise will be Sunday, December 7, 2025, at 3:00 pm at Sandy Level Baptist Church, The family will receive friends at 2:00 in the Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to SLBC in her memory. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.

The family wishes to thank the staff at The Blake at Woodcreek Farms for their excellent care, love and support over the last 7 months not only for Eloise but for her family as well.
