Eloise C. Williams, was well into her second century Sept. 30 (2022) when, after a brief illness, her Heavenly Father saw fit to call her home. No doubt, HE had the need for a beautiful soul with mature wisdom, warmth, and a sharp wit.
"Mama 'Lois" celebrated her 101st birthday in August, with family and the wonderful residents and staff at Countryside Assisted Living, where she only recently moved. Fiercely independent, she had lived in her own home (on her own terms) until she was 100. Only then had she conceded to slowing down "a little."
She was active until a few days before her passing; entertaining and enjoying the company of her children, grandchildren, extended family, and friends. During her life Lois worked as a teacher, realtor, and business owner; however, it was her role of wife and mother that she cherished. Thought to be the last of the original 1954 founding members of the Northside Church of Christ, Mrs. Williams' 101st celebration was heralded in the Harrison Daily Times.
Eloise was lovingly cared for in her final days by the staff at Hospice of the Hills. Her family is extremely grateful for the loving care, dignity, and privacy afforded her there.
She was able to say her goodbyes and she was sure of her salvation. And so it was, as Eloise was surrounded by family, flights of angels came and raised her up, singing her to her rest.
She, no doubt, joins the love of her life, J.C. Williams, her parents, George and Verna Cavaness, sisters, Helen Turney McMindes and Betty Liffiton, and brother, George Chester Cavaness.
She is survived by daughters, Judy Jones (Charlie) of Conway, Cheryl Welch (Chip) of North Little Rock, Cathy West (Buddy) of Harrison, Lisa Daffron (Keith) of Flippin; a son, John Williams (Gala) of Lincoln; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family members.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 6, at Northside Church of Christ with Rick Quattlebaum and Steve Powers officiating. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery at Harrison under the direction of Holt Memorial Chapel.
Pallbearers will be Rick Martin, Casey Jones, Billy Wehmeyer, Logan Smith, Cliff Hudson, and Moises Manjarres. Honorary pallbearers will be the elders of Northside Church of Christ.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Northside Church of Christ, Post Office Box 757, Harrison, Arkansas 72602 or Hospice of the Hills, 501 East Sherman, Harrison, Arkansas 72601.
