Elsa Mae Lawler Bursch of Caro, age 81, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, March 29, 2026. Elsa was born on June 17, 1944, in Saginaw, the daughter of the late Clyde Field and Jessie (Higby) Keller. She graduated from high school and went on to become a successful business owner, operating her own embossing company, Topham Inc., in Saginaw for over thirty years. In 1974, Elsa married Den Lawler, and the two shared nearly thirty wonderful years together before his passing in 2002. She later found love again with Leroy Bursch, together they spent ten cherished years until his passing in 2017.
Elsa loved all animals, she especially enjoyed going to dog shows and caring for the birds she faithfully fed and watched. Elsa was happiest when she was taking a warm bath and reading a good book, putting puzzles together, and spending time with her family. Elsa will always be remembered for her giving, honest, and loving spirit.
Elsa leaves to cherish her memory, her identical twin daughters, Karen (Jeff) Romain and Kathy Imker; grandchildren, Don (Stacy) Doyle, Alexis (Barry) Schultz, Jill (Josh) Cook, Robert Imker III, and Kara Imker; several great-grandchildren; sister, Beverly McIntyre. In addition to her parents and husbands, Elsa was preceded in death by her brother, Jerry Field.
In keeping with Elsa’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to Cass River Pet Friendz.
