Elsa A. Olson

1930 - 2025

Janesville, WI - Elsa A. Olson, 94, of Janesville, WI passed away on Monday, January 27, 2025 in the home of her daughter and son-in-law. She was born on September 1, 1930 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Joseph and Katharina (Reidinger) Plank. At the age of 10, Elsa and her family moved to farm in South Beloit, IL on Manchester Road, where she attended a one room schoolhouse called the Red Brick School until the 8th grade. Elsa was a 1949 graduate from North Boone High School. She later married Ardell Olson on September 25, 1954. They divorced in 1983. Elsa was employed at Wisconsin Phone Company, now known as AT&T, retiring after 21 years of service. After retirement, Elsa worked at Shopko. She was a Nascar fan, especially Jeff Gordon and Tony Stewart. Elsa enjoyed gardening, mowing the lawn twice a week, polka music, cooking and trying new recipes. She also enjoyed spending time outside watching birds, loved animals and was a voracious reader, right up to the last month of her life. Survivors include her children, Gary (Lori) Olson and Cheryl (Dale) Granlund; grandchildren, Kelly Olson, Regina (Nick) Holmberg, Kari (Mike) Hicks, Adriane (Brandon) Lahron and Eric Olson; 11 great grand-children and four bonus great grand-children; numerous nieces and nephews. Elsa was preceded by her parents; sister, Catherine Kramer; grandson, Wade Granlund; and many cats and dogs. The family would like to thank Nurse Lisa of Beloit Hospice for her attentive care to Elsa. Per Elsa's wishes there will be no services held. Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Rd., Beloit, WI, assisted the family with arrangements.
