Elsie S. Painter

Elsie S. Painter, 70, of Spartanburg, died Friday, November 23, 2007, at Valley Falls Terrace. Born January 6, 1937, in Columbia, SC, she was the daughter of the late T. R. and Pearl Harmon Swygert and the wife of Edward Painter. She was a former employee of Mack Truck in Winnsboro, SC, and Allied Chemical; she retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber. Mrs. Painter was a member of Elmwood Church of God in Columbia. In addition to her husband, survivors include two daughters, Annette Goodyear of Leesville, SC, and Beverly Davis of Columbia; a stepdaughter, Julie Ashe of Spartanburg; a sister, Inez Rials of Lexington, SC; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by three brothers, Donald, Earl, and Jessie Swygert. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 26, 2007, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens conducted by the Rev. F. Ed Traxler, Jr. Visitation at the graveside will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Interim Hospice, 775 Spartan Boulevard, Suite 101, Spartanburg, SC 29301.
