Mr. Elven "Kembo" Kenichi Iwashita, age 86, of Hilo, Hawaii, passed away on August 4, 2025 at the Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center in Hilo, Hawaii. He was born in Hilo, Hawaii on November 14, 1938 and retired from the County of Hawaii Department of Water Supply as a Drafting Engineer. He was the retired proprietor of the former Mizoguchi Sushi Store in Hilo and was an avid fisherman and hydroponics farmer. Visitation will be held at Dodo Mortuary Chapel in Hilo, Hawaii on September 7, 2025 (Sunday) from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.; memorial service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Casual attire is requested. No Koden (monetary offerings). He is survived by daughters, Candie Lynn (Brian) Ogawa of Keaau and Paige (Brian) Nakano of Hilo; sisters, Lillian Yamashita of Hilo and Jeanne (Robert) Kaneshiro of Honolulu; brother-in-laws, Sadao Yabuno of Pearl City and Tadayuki Kiso of Mountain View; sister-in-laws, Jean Kubota of Hilo and Sadako Iwashita of Hilo; grandchildren, Chad (Kayla) Suzuki, Jennifer Nakano, Michael Nakano, Jordan Ogawa and Taylor Dru Ogawa; numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
