Elvera Mary Word

Elvera Mary Word was born in New Orleans, LA. She entered eternal rest on Thursday, May 9, 2024. Mrs. Word was born to the union of Mr. Ferdinand Jackson, Sr., and Mrs. Alberta Prentiss. She attended Booker T. Washington High School. Mrs. Word was a sales associate at Krauss Department Store until her retirement. She was formerly a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church and was a eucharist minister and was a member of the Lady Auxiliary and Altar Society. After hurricane Katrina, she returned to her home church, St. David Catholic Church. Preceded in death by both parents, husband, Lawrence Matthew Word Sr., and brother, Ferdinand Jackson Jr. She leaves to cherish her 5 children Cynthia Word Bienemy (Edward), Larry Michael Word, Paulette Word Daniels (the late Glenn), Sheryl Ann Davis (Vernee), and Lawrence Matthew Word Jr. (Joanell). She also leaves behind her sister, Gloria Mae Jackson, brother Walter Joseph Jackson, 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Family and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, May 18, 2024 for 10:00 a.m. at St. David Catholic Church, 5617 St. Claude Ave., New Orleans LA.
