"To everything there is a season. A time for every purpose, under heaven. A time to be born, and a time to die." Ecclesiastes 3:1-2

Emelda "Black" Hardy Johnson, 67, of Lake Charles, was called home peacefully by her Heavenly Father on October 21, 2025. She was a lifelong resident of the Lake Charles area. Emelda was born in Westlake, Louisiana, on March 24, 1958, to Ms. Mary Hardy, but lived in Lake Charles most of her life.

Emelda let her light shine in many ways. Her greatest pride and joy were her three children, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. They were her world! She loved church and was baptized at an early age and stayed faithful as long as her health allowed. She regularly attended Christian World Ministries. She was a cook/chef at Casa Menana during her working days.

Emelda was proceeded in death by her brother, Alvin Hardy.

She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter and strength that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her. As Emelda's earthly journey comes to an end, she leaves to cherish her memory, two devoted sons: Jermaine and Steve Johnson of Portland, Oregon; one precious daughter, Alexis Johnson of Lake Charles, Louisiana; two sisters, Margaret and Shirley Hardy of Westlake, Louisiana; one brother, Kerry (Clorinde) Hardy of Lake Charles, Louisiana; six beautiful grandchildren, two precious great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Emelda will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Her life will be celebrated on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at 11:00am in King's Funeral Home Chapel. Family visitation begins at one hour prior to the funeral at 10am.
