Emil R. Krampen, age 89, died peacefully on September 15, 2023. Emil was born in Gary in 1934, the middle child of the late Emil and Mary (Daltovich) Krampen. In 1956, Emil married Anita F. Leonard and they raised four daughters in Merrillville.
Emil graduated from Gary Emerson and served in the U.S. Army. He retired as a wireman from Youngstown Steel and volunteer electrician on the newly built homes of his daughters.
He loved to fish and provided many favorite fish dinners for his family. His work area proudly displayed homemade weights, lures, bait, sleds, etc. and he held the title of best fisherman in the family. Other activities he enjoyed were traveling, gambling, college/pro football, and planting vegetable seeds indoors for his annual outdoor garden.
Emil was preceded in death by his wife, Anita, of 34 years in 1991. He is survived by his daughters: Kathy Stanzione (Joe), Lynda Clark (Tom), Sandy Tilmon (Rich Oldham), Suzy Kemp (Gregg); 5 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and 2 siblings, Virginia Owen and Jim Krampen, Sr. Burns Funeral Home & Crematory, Crown Point, IN, entrusted with arrangements. www.burnsfuneral.com
