Emilia Droz Obituary
Emilia Droz, 85, of Syracuse, passed away on October 25, 2025.
Emilia was born in Orocovis, Puerto Rico, on January 1, 1940, to Narciso and Miguelina Martinez.
As the matriarch of her family, Emilia’s love and guidance shaped generations. She had a passion for gardening and flowers and found joy in traveling and exploring new places. Her life was dedicated to nurturing and caring for children, and she shared in their accomplishments with pride and joy. A devout Catholic, Emilia was a cherished and respected member of St. Anthony’s Church in Syracuse, NY.
She was preceded in death by Father Narciso Martinez; Mother, Miguelina Caquias Martinez; Sister, Rosa Segarra; Son, Pedro Droz Jr.; Daughter, Rosa Droz; and Grandson, Ptolemy Droz.
She is survived by brothers Ivan Martinez (Linda), Freddy Martinez (Georgina), Narciso Martinez, Jr. (Michelle), Ruben Martinez, and sisters Maria Hile (Robert), Haydee Berrios (Jose). Two sons, Mario Martínez and Antonio Droz. Two daughters, Isabel Figueroa, Maria Carmen Droz. One grandson, Mario Maritinez Jr.; three granddaughters, Eliza Droz, Margherita Bertella, and Emily Fanning. Eleven great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025, at St. Anthony’s De Padua Church located at 1515 Midland Ave. Syracuse, NY 13205 at 12:00 pm. Doors will open at 11:30 am, and the interment will be at Onondaga Valley Cemetery immediately after the funeral service.
