Emily Jane Morris Anderson, age 79, of Cornelia, Georgia went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 23, 2025.
Mrs. Anderson was born on July 9, 1946 in Habersham County, Georgia to the late Rev. James Virgil and Nellie Terry Morris. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Blake Anderson; sisters, Barbara McClurg, Lavada Dorsey, Margie Clark, Sarah Harrison Boatwright; brother, Richard Morris.
Raised in church at New Hope Baptist, Emily developed a strong foundation of faith that guided her throughout her life. In recent years, she was a member of Level Grove Baptist Church. Emily was well known in the community as a proud member of the Morris Family Singers, sharing her beautiful voice and heartfelt spirit through music and was the last surviving member of the group. A true example of dedication, Emily will be remembered as a hard worker with a good heart, always willing to lend a hand and offer kindness. Her creative talents shone brightly in her love for arts and crafts, and she poured that passion into her own small business, Blake Co., which brought joy to many.
Survivors include her loving husband of 52 years, David "Andy" Anderson, of Cornelia; daughter, Jennifer Anderson Hicks, of Cornelia; grandson, Haven Hicks, of Cornelia; sister, Deborah Burrell, of Cornelia; and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Shannon Irvin and Rev. Robert Nix officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, December 1, 2025 at the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel.
