Emily Bedford Schepens of Kingwood, Texas, went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 14, 2025, after a short and valiant battle with cancer. Emily was born on May 14, 1947, in West Point Mississippi, to John L. and Libby Bedford. Emily was an excellent student and was active in the First Baptist Church of West Point, Girl Scouts, and the West Point High School band. After high school, Emily studied at Mississippi State College for Women for two years before transferring to Mississippi State University. In 1968, she met Jim Schepens and they were married on June 8, 1969, and began a 55 year adventure together. After living in Texas, California, Illinois, and Louisiana, Jim and Emily and their two sons, Gregory Lyle and Philip Blanton settled in Kingwood Texas where Emily made motherhood her full time career. She was an active volunteer in both boys’ activities and at Kingwood First Baptist Church. Emily is survived by husband, Jim of Kingwood, TX; sons Gregory Lyle (Teri) of Austin,TX, Philip Blanton ( Marjorie) of Kingwood, TX; sister Paula Bedford of Kingwood, TX; and 5 grandchildren: Brady, Hailey, Sophia, James, and Ilia. She is predeceased by her parents and her older brother, John.
A Memorial service will be 11 AM Friday February 14, 2025 at Robinson Funeral Home with Dr. James Towery officiating.
