I am so honored to have known Emily as one of my closest friends. She was truly one of a kind and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. I know her spirit lives on in those who knew her. Rest in peace to a beautiful angel, and may I find many double rainbows in your memory.

I did not know Emily, and I am not a hiker. When I heard about this tragedy, I prayed for her, and her family. I was heartbroken at the sad outcome. My deepest condolences to Emily's family and friends. Fly high sweet Emily!

As a NH native and college student who also loves to hike in the Whites, Emily's story hit especially close to home for me. It is clear that she was a courageous, smart, ambitious, adventurous, kind young woman, and I'm sad I never got the chance to know her. I think we would've been good friends. My heart breaks for her family, and I will think of her always when hiking in the Whites.

Emily was supposed to be my daughter, Ellen´s, roommate this fall at William and Mary. The girls spoke an only handful of times, but Emily´s lovely soul made an impact on us both. She is gone too soon.

I was fortunate enough to have shared a desk with Emily in my English class this semester. She was the ideal partner to have in the classroom and I truly loved collaborating with her. Her kind voice and sweet presence will be missed dearly. My love goes out to her family and the Vanderbilt community. I´m incredibly grateful for having the chance to work beside her and to have known her kind soul.

Emily was a deeply valued member of the Boston Leadership Institute community. She was a gifted student and a committed and talented TA, and we were lucky to know her. Our thoughts are with her family, and we share our most heartfelt condolences at this time.

The entire hiking community mourns the passing of such a vibrant soul. Emily, may you rest in peace , high up in heaven with the best view yet.

Just a fellow lover of the White Mountains who was truly saddened by Emily´s tragic passing. Rest assured I will think of her on every trip up Lafayette and the Ridge for the balance of my days on this earth.

Emily will remain within hikers hearts and thoughts for eternity. She was one of us. We grieve with her family, a life gone too soon. Her story captured us for days with sincere hope and much concern. After reading this tribute, we see she was so much more to so many. To her dear family, you remain in our hearts. Condolences.

My wife and I were very moved by the story of Emily´s passing. We have have been married for over 40 years, and met when we were 19 years of age. We have been praying for Emily nonstop and promise to continue to remember her as we hike in the White Mountains. God bless your family.

The hiking community misses your love of the mts.

I did not know Emily personally however we shared a love of the Whites. May her compassion for others and love for the outdoors live on in the lives of those she has touched.

I did not know Emily but I can see a beautiful young lady who loved life. I prayed she was found safe. But I see she will forever be part of our community in morning . I did not have to personally know Emily to know how well we would get along. We share many common goals and interests and she sounds like such a bright light in a sometimes very dim world. She has inspired me in ways I can´t express and she has clearly done the same for many others. I have recently began my journey across the NH 48 and I am blessed to know that Emily will be out there watching over me. I don't know Emily or your family but I am a New Hampshire native. I have spent plenty of time in the White Mountains. My heart goes out to this remarkable young lady and her family. I couldn't help but notice that you wished for donations to be made to the teams that assisted in bringing her home. What an amazing gesture for her family to do. I now understand why she is such a wonderful and amazing individual. She has an amazing family.

I was on Franconia Ridge just weeks before her ascent and followed her story from the beginning, praying for a miracle. Have wept many tears since for her and her family. My deepest condolences to family and friends. I did not know Emily, though I do share the same love she had for the mountains. I will think of Emily, a hiking angel, as I continue my hiking journey.

I followed this story from the beginning, starred at the sky nightly, and prayed for her safe return. Reading a bit about who she was, what she accomplished and where she was headed, made her shine in my mind. My sincerest condolences to her family, friends and all those whose life she touched. How many people get to say that? I will think of her when I´m on the trail and will carry her in my heart. Rest easy, sweet girl.

When you were born, I was just a kid. Grandma received a letter from America, and it was your baby photo, stylized with golden words "EMILY". I couldn't even read alphabet back then, so they told me it was your name, written in English, and that we are cousins. Late grandma kept that photo on top of the cabinet in the living room for years, and I was intrigued, often asked her about you, about your mom and your grandfather, her brother, whom she loved dearly. I imagined one day we would finally meet, across the ocean, and I'd tell you all about that photo, how I came to know you and what memories that photo holds for me and how we would laugh. And now I know that day will never come and it breaks me. Rest in peace, dear cousin, you never knew me, but I won't ever forget you. Primite moje najiskrenije sauces´ce.
