In loving memory of Emma De Angelo, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and dedicated member of her community, who peacefully passed away on November 12, 2025, at the age of 84 in her home.
Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, in 1941 to Juan and Emma Gonzales, Emma began her journey through life with a passion for reading, taking care of her children and helping others. She studied English and History at the University of Puerto Rico before serving her country in 1962 with distinction in the United States Navy as a translator. After her military service, Emma forged a successful career as a journalist and news reporter covering government affairs for WIPR in Puerto Rico. In 1975, she moved to the United States, where she built a beautiful life for herself and her family.
Emma was married to the love of her life, the late Glenn Angelo, who passed away in 2019. Their love and partnership served as an inspiration to all who knew them. Emma was spiritual and a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Columbia, Maryland.
Emma's love for learning was boundless, and she was particularly passionate about world history, religion, science and politics. Her love of reading began at a young age and remained a constant source of wisdom throughout her life. She shared her knowledge with family and friends, inspiring a love of history in all who knew her. Emma discovered a talent for painting, delighting in capturing the beauty of faces, colors, textures, and the natural world, often using her grandchildren as inspiration. In addition to her many talents was cooking.
She enjoyed cooking for her family, neighbors and friends.
Emma leaves behind a legacy of love and learning, as well as many cherished memories. She is survived by her three children, Lawrence, Valeria, and John; her brother Hector; seven grandchildren, Torrie, Angelique, Morgan, Isabel, Curtis, Dominic, and Emma; ten great-grandchildren, and many loving relatives.
Emma's warm presence will be deeply missed, but her passion for history, art, and the pursuit of knowledge will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her. May she find eternal peace, reunited with her beloved Glenn, and may her remarkable life story of helping others serve as a beacon of inspiration for generations to come.
