Guyton – Emma Lee Zipperer Dasher, 82, passed away June 26, 2024 at her home.
The Effingham County native was a 1960 graduate of Effingham County High School and a 1963 graduate of Memorial Hospital Nursing School. During her 35+ year career as a registered nurse, she worked in nursing home care, home health and doctors' offices. She also provided care for many family and friends in her community. She was a lifetime member of Zion Lutheran Church where she served in various capacities including 26 years as congregational secretary and 25 years as treasurer of Zion's Women of the ELCA. She was a recipient of the Lamb Award for her years of working alongside her husband in support of Zion's scouting programs. In later years, she was most noted for her role in serving as Zion's greeter and the welcomer to new comers and members. "Mrs. Emma Lee" was everybody's grandma. She was a member of the Effingham County Fair Committee, Marlow Chapter of Effingham County Farm Bureau and a Charter Member of the Historic Effingham Society. Emma Lee enjoyed spending time outside and could often be seen working in the yard.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Edwin "Clayton" Dasher; parents, John Henry and Minnie Lee "Helmey" Zipperer; and brother, John "Roland" Zipperer.
She is survived by her daughter, Dana Lee Dasher Smith (Dana); grandson, Evan Smith; sister, Martell Hall; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, June 28, 2024 at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 29, 2024 at Zion Lutheran Church. Emma Lee will lie in state from 10 a.m.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be given to Zion Lutheran Church Sound System Fund, 121 Noel C. Conaway Rd., Guyton, GA 31312.
