ROCKVILLE — Ms. Emma Rachel Croom Leyton, 88, of 299 Hurley Ave., (Formerly of Clinton) passed away Friday, Aug. 9, 2024, at Collingswood Nursing & Rehab of Rockville, MD.
Funeral Services will be held Sunday, Aug. 18 at 3 p.m. at Royal-Hall Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Flowers officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memorial Park.
Born on March 29, 1936, in Sampson County, Emma was the daughter of the late James Manley and Myrtle Peterson Croom and the widow of the late Robert Leyton. She enjoyed singing hymns, dancing, and catering and spent her career in Real Estate until her retirement.
Emma is survived by four nephews, James Croom, Jr, and wife, Sharon of Clinton, Melvin Weaver and wife, Deanna of Clinton, Ron Croom and wife, Lisa of Wilmington, and John Croom of Austin, Tx.; two nieces: Rachel Fueller and husband, Graham of Clinton, and Deborah Moore and husband, John of Wrightstown, NJ and a dear friend, Erin Howard of Maryland.
Emma was preceded in death by a daughter, Shelia K. Tibbits; brothers, James Croom, Sr and Harris Croom and two sisters, Lois C. Weaver and Iris Croom.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services on Sunday beginning at 2 p.m.
