Emmett "Sam" Samuel Peak, of Sasser Georgia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday September 24, 2025, with his family by his side at Phoebe Putney Hospital, at the age of 77. Visitation will be held on Sunday September 28, 2025 at Mathews Funeral Home from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM with the funeral services to follow at 3:00 PM. Pastor Buddy Crenshaw will officiate.
Born on September 27, 1947, in Clay County, Georgia, to the late Thomas Earl and Gussie Clenney Peak. Sam grew up in Edison GA and after he and Mary married in 1965, they moved to Dawson, Georgia, and eventually moved to Sasser Georgia.
Sam devoted 30 years of his career to Ferrell Gas, where he was known for his reliable service in delivering propane. His work was a reflection of his strong work ethic and commitment to helping others.
Outside of his professional life, Sam found joy in simple pleasures. He cherished the moments spent fishing and looked forward to Bible study every Wednesday at Life Church as well as going every Sunday when he was able. Above all, Sam's greatest love was for his family; he reveled in the company of his grandchildren and found immense joy in sharing meals together.
He is preceded in death by his siblings, Mary Hammock, Marvin Peak, and Grady Peak.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Mary Sue Peak of Sasser, GA, son Edward Allen Peak of Sasser, GA, and daughter Tammy Lynn Speir (Keith) of Lee County, GA. Grandchildren, Brandi Peak, Brook Speir, and Courtney Speir. Sam is survived by his siblings, Dorothy McCauley (Art) of Eufaula, AL, and Bobby Peak (Sheila) of Arlington, GA, along with numerous nieces and nephews
