Emmy L. Yourish

1933 - 2024

Emmy L. Yourish, 90, entered rest on Sunday, October 13, 2024, at her home in Fremont, California surrounded by her family. She was born in Latrobe, PA on November 22, 1933, to John and Zetta Myers. Emmy got her associate's degree in nursing and worked as a nurse at Washington Hospital for 35 years until she retired in 1999. She loved her job and was instrumental in the nursing careers of several friends and family members.

She was a devoted Christian and attended Irvington Presbyterian church for many years. She was in fact a deacon for her church and was part of different groups such as the Christian women's club, and Red Hats Club. She also did a ministry at a nursing home, was part of a pregnancy crisis center and multiple other volunteer organizations.

Emmy also loved her bingo, people and she loved to have conversations with whomever she could. Most of all she loved her dogs, home and of course her loving family.

Emmy is survived by her daughters, Frances Shaver, and Nancy Dupree (Victor); Son Daniel Yourish; Grandkids, Katrina Garza (John), Daniel Garza, Jenny Cullen (Ryan), Emily Moore (Travis), Joseph Yourish (Bobbi) and great grandchildren, Cohen, Nolan, Benjamin, Thaddeus, and Lillian. She is preceded in death by her husband Theodore W. Yourish who passed away on October 2, 2002.
