Cresaptown, MD – Emory "Buddy" Lee Davis, Jr., 75, of Cresaptown, MD, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at UPMC Western Maryland.
Born June 27, 1948, in Cumberland, MD, Mr. Davis was the son of the late Emory Lee Davis, Sr., and Anna May (Smith) Davis. He was also preceded in death by his sister: Darlene Gibson; his baby brother: Lyndell Davis; and his brothers-in-law: Reverend David Gene Slye, and James Gibson.
Buddy graduated from Flintstone High School in 1966 where he held a state record for the longest field goal in the state of Maryland. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was accepted into the Seabees in June 1967 where he served for 33 years. He had deployments in Vietnam and Persian Gulf Wars. Buddy served most of his time in the Naval Seabee Reserves where he retired as Senior Chief. As a civilian, Buddy worked and retired from Cumberland Concrete Corporation where he was a mechanic and maintenance supervisor. He was a member of the VVA #172, Naval Enlisted Reserves Association, VFW Henry Hart Post #1411, and also a member of the Woodmen Life Chapter #6, since 1990, where he served as president for over 15 years. Buddy was a member of the Green Ridge Assembly of God Church where he served as Chairman, Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and worship leader.
Buddy is survived by his wife of 50 years: Nancy J. (Michaels) Davis; his daughter: Melissa (Davis) Twigg and husband, JJ; his son: Thomas Michaels and wife, Chari; his grandchildren: Jessica Imes and husband, Nick, Shawnee Iser and husband, Andrew, Haylee and Jet Twigg, and McKinlee and Miabella Dotson; his great grandchildren: Nixon, Carder, Mason, and Avery; and his siblings: Victoria Cappello, Brenda "Tinker" Slye, and Charles Smith and wife, Debbie; as well as several special nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, MD, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Sunday, October 1, 2023, from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. Woodmen Life will hold a ceremony at 4:45 P.M.
A funeral service will be conducted at the Green Ridge Assembly of God Church, 13401 Green Ridge Rd NE
Flintstone, MD 21530, on Monday, October 2, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Olin Teter officiating. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in Maryland Veteran's Cemetery at Rocky Gap.
Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter #172.
