Emory Mathis of Colquitt, GA died on Sunday, December 21, 2025, at his residence. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, at 11:00 AM, at Sheffield Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bobby Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Cooks Union Cemetery with Austin Chapman, William Stark, Andrew Toliver, Ladon Wells, Marshall Sapp, Christoper Griffin, and Jonathan Sheffield serving as active pallbearers. A visitation will be held one hour before the service, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at Colquitt Funeral Home.
Mr. Mathis was a self-employed truck driver.
He is survived by one son, David Griffin of Bainbridge, GA; two daughters, Allison Johnson of Leesburg, GA, and Christy Cook of Colquitt, GA; two brothers, Greg (Rhonda Sue) Mathis of Jesup, GA, and Wendell (Angel) Mathis of Colquitt, GA; grandchildren, Leighton Johnson, Libby Johnson, Christopher Griffin, Marshall Sapp, Cade Griffin McMillan, Davinie Griffin, Maranda Griffin, Elizabeth Bailey, and Vance Bailey. He was preceded in death by his wife, Blaine Mathis; one daughter, Renee Bailey; and parents, Jack and Margaret Mathis.
