Enrique Ocasio Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 19, 2014.
Enrique Colón Ocasio, 89 of Orocovis Matrulla, PR died in his home in the Bronx, NY on February 19th 2014 at 5 PM .Enrique was born to Felix Colón and Santa Ocasio. He is survived by his wife Myrna Colón and 12 children, Carmen Colón, Yvette Colón, Eric Colón, Ralph Colón, Ulysses Colón, Diana Colón, Evelyn Colón, Frances Colón, Henry Colón, Dina Colón, Nora Colón and Mary Ann Colón. Enrique arrived in the United States in 1954 to the Bronx, NY. He worked in the restaurant, construction and later in the automotive industries (GM-Chevrolet in Tarrytown, NY) while working as Superintendent for a multi-building apartment complex on 174th St in Bryant Ave. After a few years at Bryant Ave, he moved his family to Manhattan's upper Westside (1972) to 241 W. 108th st and shortly after to 299 Riverside drive as a Super, he picked up his second job as a doorman at 210 Riverside drive. Enrique amass a close relationship with his family and friends and quite often just anyone he came in contact with. He was the nucleus of the Colón family and his home was our retreat. Enrique was known for his ability to fix and build anything, for his trips to Orchard beach and his camping trips to Seven Lakes. His 1970's innovative speaker connected to a car battery, powered by a white 8 track am/fm radio astronaut helmet just amplifies his passion for music and listening to the baseball game (no, a simple radio just wouldn't do). Enrique was more than a man, he cared for countless of people outside of his family. He was the ultimate caregiver, he opened his house, lend his ear and shared his heart. That affection transcended into the many descendants who are proud and honor to be a part of Enrique Colón Ocasio. Rest In Peace and May God Bless you on your journey. You will always be in the heart of your family and friends.
