DEA. MORGAN Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Thomson Funeral System on Mar. 5, 2026.
DEA. EPHRAIM WHITE "E.V." MORGAN, age 86, of Thomson, GA passed on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at the Piedmont-Augusta hospital in Augusta, GA. Family members and friends may call at the funeral home. THOMSON FUNERAL SYSTEM, Thomson, GA oversees all arrangements.

"He was our hero to the grave."

MR. EPHRAIM WHITE MORGAN, affectionately known as "E.V.," was born on Friday, May 5, 1939, to Richard L. Morgan and Ella White Morgan. A man of quiet strength, E.V. valued education and hard work. He attended the McDuffie County Training School and later earned his GED. He worked many dedicated years at the former National Homes Company, the former First National Bank, the former SunTrust Bank and for the McDuffie County Road Department. He found solace working with the Leverett family on their farm for many years. His greatest testament was living a life of service and dedication until the very end.

As a man of profound faith, E.V. was a pillar to the Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church starting at a young age. He served faithfully as a Deacon, Past Chairman of the Trustee Board, a member of the Sanctuary and Male Choirs, and former Deacon-in-Charge of the Senior Citizen's Ministry. His commitment to his community is unwavering. It extended through his work with the NAACP, the Masonic Lodge, and his participation in Relay for Life.

E.V. was a gentle giant. He was defined by his kindness and his belief that "silence spoke for itself." He never raised his voice, choosing instead to lead with an infectious smile and a mischievous laugh. He loved people and people loved him. Additionally, he was an excellent cook who loved to eat, while miraculously never gaining a pound.

On Wednesday, March 4, 2026, while at the Piedmont-Augusta Hospital in Augusta, Georgia, the sun set for our dearly beloved Ephraim White Morgan "E.V." We can truly say, "A job well done thy good and faithful servant. Even though you have departed this earthly life, until we meet again on that great day, our love for you will survive your absence!" He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard & Ella Morgan and eight siblings: Myrtis, Matilda, Pinkie Lee, Roxie, James, J.C., Johnny Frank, and Prince Albert.

A lifetime of beautiful memories are left to be cherished by those who have survived him: his loving and devoted wife of 66 years, Velma Landers Morgan; two daughters, Jackie Morgan and Lorrain Morgan-Rooks (Robert Rooks); one son, Randy, Sr. (Lois) Morgan; a bonus son, Patrick (Ashley) Lunceford; two granddaughters, Yolanda "Vette" Turman and Kenyada Turman-Padgett (Covelle Padgett); his only grandson, Randy Morgan, Jr.; two bonus grandchildren, William C. Lunceford and Georgia G. Lunceford; four great-grandchildren, Marquavious Butler whom he raised as a son, Miloni Thomas, Kentavious Hatcher and Cayden Padgett; a sister, Mary Frances Lafavor; three sisters-in-law, Brenda (Victor) Bender, Hazel Battle and Doris Hamilton; one brother-in-law, James Scott; a special friend, J.T. Williams; a host of nieces, nephews, other family members in addition to a large loving extended family. His life was a living example of 2 Timothy 4:7: "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept my faith."
